2K Recruits Apex Legends Developer to Revitalize Struggling Action Game Ambitious Title
2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the development team at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the anticipated over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Management Shift Follows Lukewarm Reception
Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing unveiling last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure informed employees about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a clearer game identity.
The president noted that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
Trend of Key Recruitment
The news echoes a similar step taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock development group.
Here is the entire text from the president's communication:
Hello Everyone—
I understand you all just wrapped up your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I shared you all a update, I stated the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and creative developers we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re looking forward for that relationship to continue.”
With your dedication and versatility, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was informative. It affirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It highlighted the need for a more distinct brand.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the feedback to consideration and reimagined the title with a renewed direction - one that’s positioned to fulfill its potential to our audience.
The belief in this project increases every day. To further the remarkable development you’ve made, I’m excited to welcome the new hire as the latest Lead of 31st Union. Following several months of talks, he comes aboard us on the specified date.
His management and experience in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having dedicated the last 15 years producing and overseeing some of the most well-known titles in gaming, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.
I invite you all in receiving Ben next week. We are all looking forward to persist observing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the weeks to come.
The President
