Nearly twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the state, producing wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Locals observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
